MEA is offering the Train the Evaluator Workshop as an all-day live online training event using TEAMS. This class is limited to 20 participants.

Train the Evaluator is tailored to meet the needs of the operators of natural gas pipelines who must comply with the federally mandated operator qualifications program. Individuals who are interested in learning more about OQ and conducting performance evaluations, and/or individuals interested in becoming an approved MEA Evaluator and obtaining an Evaluator ID, should attend this workshop.

SYLLABUS
This one-day workshop includes participatory exercises and lectures. Content includes:  

  • An overview of the OQ Rule, including 49 CFR 192, 195, API 1161, and ASME B31Q
  • Discussion of current OQ hot topics
  • Review of the characteristics and skills needed to be an effective evaluator
  • Review of the evaluation process
  • Tips for evaluator response to evaluatee questions
  • Tips for handling problem situations

Requirements 
If you cannot answer yes to all three of the following questions, you may not be a candidate for an MEA Evaluator ID. If you still choose to attend the workshop, you will receive a certificate of attendance.

  • Have you been qualified for the task(s) you will evaluate (qualification need not be current)?
  • Do you have three years of experience performing the task(s) you will evaluate?
  • Do you have a minimum of three references who can verify your experience?

PRE-WORKSHOP PREPARATIONS

  • Candidates for an MEA Evaluator ID must complete the Evaluator Application packet and submit to MEA prior to class. If you do not have an EnergyU LMS login, contact your company administrator or MEA to subscribe. Logins are required to obtain an Evaluator ID.
  • Registrants will receive an electronic (PDF) copy of the TTE Workbook. MEA recommends that you print this workbook for reference and notetaking during class.
  • Inform coworkers or members of your household that you will be on camera as a part of a livestream training event and that your surroundings will be visible to others.
  • Please take appropriate steps to ensure no outside noise that may be distracting to other attendees.

MEA must verify equipment setup and connection prior to class. If you are unable to meet the following requirements, your registration fee will be refunded:

  • Computer or tablet equipped with a web camera
  • Microphone or telephone dial-in
